Second selection of the Kager’s Cup it brought lots of emotions comparable to those felt on high level championships even though it was only an amateur race.
On a short distance the leader changed three times!
Each and every sport event organized by Sopot Sports Association Automobilklub Orski together with Kager lets the audience check for themselves that even though there are non pro drivers behind the wheels without any professional licence the level of their skills is very high. We can observe the same when it comes to car preparation level. Without a doubt – with the skills presented by all the contestants they can only search for reserves in the equipment used during the race.
Second this year three cities race with Kager started out traditionally in Sopot at the parking spot in Opera Leśna. The weather again this year was in favour of the drivers this year being twenty five. The favourites for the win in the general classification of the race were the leaders of the cycle: Stanisław Dyjak and Michał Andrzejczak at Ford Escort. The black horse of the race was a family crew Adam Szczygielski and Jacek Szczygielski in Renault Clio. The contestants, who did not start at the March selection round, from the start forced a high speed and winning first two sections became the leaders, having almost 4 seconds advantage over Dyjak and Andrzejczak.
Third the most demanding and longest at the same time section on the military training ground in Jasień was the show off the Ford crew. It was enough to make up the loss and come as the leader of the race but with the advantage of only 0,2 second! That made the emotions go high at the end of the race. And in fact the return to Sopot and another drive along the Opera Leśna section brought a counterattack from Adam and Jacek Szczygielski and their return to the first position. The time difference were not so big all race long – before the last fight for the podium the teams had 2,3 seconds of a difference between.
The last try out taking place at a woody area had many unexpected actions to offer the contestants, first of all the slippery surface for the rain had left under the trees. The drive had to be fast but careful. The race leaders noted a significant time loss along that track which made Dyjakow and Andrzejczak climb to the top once more. At last the winners of this sports try out proved to be Tomasz Dulas and Michał Błedowski driving Subaru Impreza, who both went through the way evenly and by those means confirmed their place on the podium.
Second selection tour for Kager’s Cup 2009 was overthrown by a red Ford, whose team with two wins on their account leads decidedly in the yearly Cup classification. The second place of Szygielski duet let them equal out their points with Bartosz Ochrymowicz and Marcin Bożkiewicz, who have not completed the second selection match. Tomasz Dulas and Michał Błedowski came third and went up in the season classification to the sixth position.
At the end according to annual tradition the cups were distributed among the winners together with souvenirs from Kager’s brand. For the next sports event we sincerely invite on the 18th of July, when we are going to find out if any rival can stop Dyjak/Andrzejczak from winning third time in a row.
